Submission Screen Shots
Here's the screen shots from us submitting our design boards. I went a bit mad and just kept doing it the whole time it was happening. So there, that's us done!
YCN Feel Good - Submission Boards
Following the crit, and the further developments that we have made since, I redesigned our design boards ready for the submission to the YCN competition. I wanted to ensure that everything was considered on the page so ended up spending a long time on them, but it was worth it. Here is the final boards that we went on to submit.
YCN Feel Good - Feel Good Friday Van
Due to us being organised and having a little time left before submission deadline, we thought it would be a good idea to mock up the Feel Good Friday van that we considered doing in the early stages of this project. Obviously we can't go the whole hog and design the full event, but just having the idea of a van is a good one to have, a van that will go on into city centers on a Friday handing out free samples and vouchers to get more people in the know about the drinks.
YCN Feel Good - Fridge Shelf
Another thing that came up in the discussion during the final crit was to maybe have the drinks on to shelf, to see them in context. Obviously with us not having actual bottles to go and take pictures of, Beth made a vector of a fridge shelf and added on the 3D mocks instead, which we will use on the submission design boards.
YCN Feel Good - Printed Versions
We have decided that it would look a lot better if we were to print out the magazine ad and the direct mail to make them seem more real, so we went and bought a magazine and got this done. We also printed the vouchers as well. Here's the ones we will use on the design boards.
YCN Feel Good - Drinks Range Logos
For the final submission boards, we decided to produce the individual drinks logos for each of the drinks that are available from the Feel Good range, rather than just having the three that we have worked with for everything else that we have produced. Beth went on to select the colour pallets for each and produced these, ready for me to add to our design boards.
YCN Feel Good - Logo Alterations
A key bit of feedback that we received from the final crit was that our logo reminded others in the group of the existing fruit pastels/roundtrees logo too much. After discussing it with them we realised that it was due to the colour of green that we had used. Beth went and experimented with this, and altered it to try and avoid the comments, so the new logo for the main company logo looks like this.
YCN Feel Good - Final Crit
Here are the design boards that I produced ready for the final crit.
For this crit, we ensured that we went into a group with people who we hadn't been in a group crit with previously, and who we hadn't had close contact with throughout the brief so that we got a fresh set of eyes to give us feedback. This definitely proved to be beneficial.
The main bits of feedback that we received was that our logo reminded them too much of the fruit pastels/roundtrees logo, as well little things like the lightest colour in the orange & passionfruit description. We ended up discussing ways to change our design board amongst me and Beth, and scribbled on the ones that we had used on the crit as a guideline for them.

YCN Feel Good - Direct Mail & Floor Vinyls
Along with everything that we have produced so far, we also discussed producing floor vinyls that will lead a person through a store to the drinks isle, and also a booklet that would be used as direct mail to send out to the targeted audience.
Beth mocked up the floor vinyls using a vector similar to the others we're already using.

For the direct mail, because we discussed producing a booklet, we altered the magazine vector so that we could add the designs and info on to that to propose the direct mail.
YCN Feel Good - Adshell Mock Ups
In order to propose what we have produced on our design boards, we prefer the idea of having simple vector illustrations of the things such as the phone box as we don't want using an actual photograph of one to distract from the actual designs. Beth went on to produce these beauties for us to use.

Using the phone box designs that we already had finished, she quickly added them to the phone box vector to see how effective it looks. She had done a great job with these, and I believe that the extra touch with the people stood round helps more to give an better idea of the size/perspective of the designs that they will be at.
YCN Feel Good - Magazine Ad/Vouchers
For the advertisement that will appear in magazines, such as every day magazines, I decided to take what I have already done for the bus stop adshell, and basically alter the size to that it would be suitable to fit into a mag. I kept the same positioning for the description within the area, and then played around with the bottom layout of the page.
It's simple, to the point and visually consistent with everything else produced so far.
Vouchers
We have discussed previously about having money off vouchers that could be used to encourage more people to try the drinks. Whilst I was working on the ad above, Beth got to producing some vouchers that we will use on things like the mag ad. She did a lot of experimentation and development on these, all which can be seen on her blog. The vouchers that are final and what we will go on to use are these ones below.
Now that we have the vouchers sorted, I edited the ad accordingly to fit them on. I took off the bottle in the main ad due to there being one on each of the vouchers. It didn't take too much shifting around so I managed to keep the visual consistency.
YCN Feel Good - Bus Stop Ad
I moved on from the poster for now, and began producing a bus stop advertisement. We decided to do this as it is a great way to get people to engage with them, and the description is long enough for someone to read if waiting at a traffic light for example but not too long to get too distracted. I used an image from google to get a good idea on the sort of proportions to go with.
I played around with the positioning of everything until I found a composition that I thought worked alright, then experimented further with that, which is all shown below.
