Communication Is A Virus - Online

We decided as a group that the best and fastest way to get the word out would be through social networking sites. This is because it is easy to set up, and a lot easier for people to spread the word around about them and pass the links on. Also, we will use them to try and get people involved and give suggestions, and this is the best way to do this.

Facebook

On Facebook we set up a group for Do Day, and from that we set up an actual event. We invited people we knew to both, although trying to get the event one with the most people on because this is the one people are most likely to engage with, and anyone else who then sees it can also click to attend. When we set them up we put quick descriptions to get the ball rolling, and will update this once the body copy for everything is agreed on. On it, we will give out suggestions ourselves in hope to get suggestions from others back to try and make the event more live.

Twitter

A lot of people also use Twitter these days, so I set up an account on here to get as many followers as we could on it. Again, the initial set up has a quick description until the copy was actually decided on. I will use this to post tweets with suggestions on them, and try to get people to engage and give suggestions back. I think out of this and Facebook, this will get the word more wide spread in terms of people we don't know as you can follow anyone and they follow you back. So because of this I will follow as many people as I can to try and get them involved. Also, on there I will have a link to the event page on Facebook for if people would like to shift over to there to get involved.

Online Survey

After thinking about how we are going to spread the word and want people to get involved, with hopes of getting feedback from what people did; me and Lisa thought it would be a good idea to have an online survey to fill in for those who do get involved but don't actually use Facebook or Twitter. We kept the questions on this straight to the point so that it wouldn't be a daunting task to actually fill in and put people off. The link for this will also be posted on the Facebook and Twitter pages for if people would prefer to fill this out rather than post their responses publicly.

Email Address

To set up the Twitter account, I needed to set up an email address to be able to do so. So I kept it in the Do Day theme and had it as do_day2011@yahoo.co.uk I did it like this so that if we wanted, this could also be included as a way to respond and leave feedback.
