Tutorial 18/10/2012

I gathered everything that I have done so far together to take to my tutorial with Amber on 18/10/2012.

scan feedback sheet

Overall the tutorial went really well. I discussed all of the projects that I have going on at the minute.

For the Hot & Tasty brief I was asked what I would do if the owner of the cafes was to not like what I have done or was to choose an idea that I don't really like. I explained how the owner is pretty down to earth and open to suggestions so I don't really see this becoming a problem, but if it was to turn out like this then I would carry on with the brief anyway in the way that they would like me to, and try to bring it back to being more interesting.

For the Black & White competition brief, I discussed how this was coming to an end now and it's just a case of bringing everything together. And I also explained my idea of possibly pushing the idea down the hand drawn route too as I've explained in a previous blog post, which went down really well so I think I will experiment with this a bit more.

For the Make My Mark and ISTD brief, I explained how I have had some initial thoughts about the briefs and need to make more of a solid start with them.

For the Typographic Expression brief, I explained my idea, and we got talking about where the actual quotes and things could come from, and Amber explained about her train journeys, and how I could maybe listen out on a morning on the train for things that people say, and then I said how sometimes at work we get some people ask for some random things that don't exist or make sense, and this lead us to discussing how they could be produced to go back into a cafe in some way - so this is the direction that I will be taking this brief now. I will do a follow up post to this one to explain more about it. I also need to catch up with this and have all the weeks that I have missed posters done for the crits next week.

Proposal Form

Before I started writing out my proposal form, I was thinking mostly about the statement of intent section, and how I would write out my 'In week...I will...' things. To avoid repeating everything over and over and running out of space, I have decided to do a table for my time over the weeks during the module. I did a rough version of this first.

Now that I have that planned out, I filled out the form that I took to the group tutorial.

Then after the tutorial, ready for Friday, I typed up my proposal form and make a few changes.

PUT THE TYPED UP VERSION ONNNNNNN

Group Tutorial Feedback 09/10/12

Following the studio workshops, we have been given a proposal form that we need to fill out and have complete by Friday 13th. In the meantime we have had group tutorials (mine was with Fred), to basically present our four briefs that we have chosen, as well as out rationale for this module to get some formative feedback on to help progress throughout the module.

Using the proposal form I filled out prior to the tutorial, I used this to read through to the rest of the group, then as I was speaking everyone filled out a feedback sheet to be given back to me. I got some useful feedback.

The main piece of feedback that I got that I need to take on board straight away is that my Make My Mark brief is more of a PPD brief than a Design Practice one, so I need to choose another brief to work on to be counted as one of my main four. I will keep the Make My Mark one on as well as this is something that I want and need to do anyway. So I will have a look for maybe another competition brief to sink into.

Studio Workshops 03/10/12 & 04/10/12

03/10/12

In studio 3 (which I unfortunately missed due to illness), we needed to bring in the 4 substantial briefs that we have decided on to at least do for this module printed out.

On the back of these, we had to list all of the skills,

Have sentences wrote out for tmoz.

04/10/12

In this session, we continued to use the briefs from the previous session. Taking into consideration the design process:

  • type the list out

We had to draw out a line divided into 10 sections, and map out roughly how long we intend/thing we need to spend on each section of the design process for each of the briefs. For this, I did it on the back of another printed copy of them all.

I also drew up a larger scale of the lines all together so that I would be able to compare them.

FINISH THIS POST AND DO IT PROPERLY. DAMN SCANNING SHIZZZZZ.
