Communication Is A Virus - Screen Printing

The original idea for screen printing was to get it done on the Wednesday (week before the actual date of Do Day) so that we would have plenty of time to do it, and could then go on to do more at a different time if we wished to. Even so, we had arranged to all meet together at lunch that Wednesday after me and Lisa finished the screen printing induction, but the others never showed after we waited for 2 hours. So this set us back a bit. By the time everything eventually got finished and ready it was 1.30pm on Monday, bearing in mind the actual day is Tuesday so there was basically no time left for emergencies or anything.

Luckily Lisa had gone and stripped 2 of the screens the Friday before so it was just a case of going and exposing the screens and getting on with it. Me and Lisa went and did the screen printing whilst Dom and Matt stayed in the studio. Lisa printed the flyers onto the cardboard whilst I did the hotdog books.

In total for the hotdog books, I printed 70 of them front and back. Luckily I had some help from Baljeet for this, otherwise it would never have got done! Then when we were almost finished, we explained to the others that we would probably be about another half hour but they didn't want to wait so left it down to me and Lisa to get them cut out and folded. Lisa took a handful of about 20 and in total I did 50 that evening.

The flyers on the cardboard didn't turn out as well as we had hoped. This is because the material way too absorbant so kept going as shown above. Even so, we did get a few good prints from them, and once they were cut down they didn't look too bad. Definitely had the hand made look we were hoping for. Lisa got all of these cut out and sorted. Them going wrong was a fault on everyones part as we hadn't cut all the cardboard to being just one size, and there was no crop marks or anything on the print outs to then work to. Lesson learnt for the future.
