What If... - Problem

Each of us in our group discussed the research we made, and ideas we had for where we could lead this project. A running theme we seemed to have was the whole 'secret Leeds' thing, like not knowing what is behind closed doors, and forgotten buildings that have been neglected. Similar things like this. So with all this in mind we came up with a problem for us then to go on and solve.

For this we filled out a Rationale, which can be found on my PPD blog.

In a different studio session we got to thinking more about the idea and where we could have it lead. There were quite a few varied ideas, but for us to keep it legal it made it feel a little restricted. We ended up with..

Problem
There is so much unused space in Leeds.

Question
What do the public want from these spaces?

Specifically we want to focus on the smaller shops, after looking into the Art in Unusual Spaces, we found there wee around 92 empty shops in Leeds. We want to find out what the public want from these spaces through a campaign using things like blogs to get feedback and exploring interactive poster designs where people can express their opinion.

We used Google Maps and turned on street view to have a look and get a better idea of how many unused shops there are, and the conditions they are in. We got some screen shots from this..

For the progress crit we were required to do, we had to put together 3 design direction boards to show where we wanted to go. So once we all decided on an idea we thought would work well, we put the boards together.

Here is what each would be for:

Problem.

Evidence.

What we intend.
